Graha Pravesam (Housewarming) Pooja in Singapore

Graha Pravesam is the traditional Hindu ceremony for entering a new home. It purifies the house and invokes the blessings of the deities, so that the family begins life in their new home with peace, health and prosperity.

When is it performed?

Families perform Graha Pravesam when moving into a newly bought or newly built home, including HDB flats, condominiums and landed houses. It is also often done after major renovation. The ceremony is held on an auspicious date and time (muhurtham).

What the ceremony usually includes

  • Ganapati pooja to remove obstacles
  • Punyaahavaachanam (purification of the home)
  • Vastu Shanti and Navagraha prayers, where appropriate
  • The traditional boiling of milk in the new kitchen

The exact rituals depend on your family's tradition and the occasion. We will advise you on the date, the preparations and the right prayers.
